Behind The Series
The Idea

The Execution
In 2020, Black and brown businesses were failing at twice the rate of their white counterparts. We created a series to highlight Black and Latino founders in hopes of empowering viewers to walk away more educated about the real, unrelenting and rewarding path to entrepreneurship.
We partnered with the Black Experience Channel on Xfinity, REVOLT Media & TV, and GFACTOR films to bring their stories to life. We understood we needed Black and brown voices to authentically tell Black and brown stories.
The three-part series gives viewers an intimate introduction to nine Black and Latino founders. Michael Maponga, Max Tuchman, Shanel Fields, Karlos Walkes, Trish Miller, India Hayes, Jasmine Jones, Renato Carregha, and Danielle Johnson get candid about the challenges they face and share how they’ve had to navigate race, identity, sexuality and a global pandemic to survive.
The exclusive premiere of the three-part docuseries, Founding in Color, arrived Thursday, September 9, 2021, on Black Experience on Xfinity Channel, available on X1, Flex, and on-the-go with the Xfinity Stream app. Now available to stream for free on Peacock.
